Post Test Training
What’s the best modification you can make to your bike?
If you were thinking of spending some cash on improving your bike, what would you buy?
A titanium can?
Some luggage?
Uprated tyres?
New riding kit?
It may come as a surprise, but probably the best investment you can make in your bike is you, or rather your skill as a rider.
Most of us pass our test and never think about training again. How crazy is that?
Bikes are constantly improving, with technology raising the bar year on year, but if the rider hasn’t kept pace, they are letting the tech down.
Post-test training, no matter how long you’ve been riding, helps you get the best from your bike, avoid the bad habits we all get into and make riding a more rewarding experience. If, like many, you only ride during the better weather, training could prevent mistakes due to road-rustyness after a winter lay off, but even if you ride year-round, you can never stop learning.
Take your riding to the next level with post-test training
Becoming a more skilled, safer motorcyclist means committing to regular, ongoing, post-test training. Riding experience is important in building competence and confidence, but it can also encourage bad habits. Through formal post-test training these can be identified and addressed.
The DVSA Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS)
When you are ready to make a commitment to post-test motorcycle training, a widely acknowledged and recommended first-step is the DVSA Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS). ERS begins with an assessment ride, that then informs a bespoke training plan. ERS is intended as an intensive training course that will ideally be delivered over three-days. One of the key reasons that so many riders opt for the Enhanced Rider Scheme is that it is delivered by full-time, fully qualified, professional DVSA certified instructors. By booking this important post-test training course with an Industry Approved Instructor, you can be assured of the very highest training standards which will enable you to safely get more from your ride.
Back-to-biking and refresher training
If, like many, you are returning to bikes after some years away, you will notice that things aren’t what they used to be. Bikes are more sophisticated and packed with technology, not just in the engine, but influencing the brakes and suspension too. You will have changed while you’ve been away, too. Maybe you have got used to a car, your reactions may be slower and you’ve forgotten the little things that seasoned riders look out for. Traffic is heavier and four wheel drivers have more distractions to take their eyes off the road. With all this in mind, it doesn’t make sense to get back in the saddle without first investing in some post-test training to get you back up to speed.
If you are in this group of ‘returning’ riders, money spent with your nearest Enhanced Rider Scheme Instructor is the best investment you can make. This will ensure that your return to two-wheels is as safe as possible. You can expect that your Instructor will assess your needs and can put together a bespoke post-test training plan. This approach will not only make you safer and more skilled, it will also maximise your enjoyment of returning to the wonderful world of riding!
